Worldwide music superstar Gordon Matthew Thomas Summer, better known as Sting, is currently enjoying the fifth decade of his phenomenal career. Regarded as one of the best-selling musicians in the world, Sting has sold over 100 million albums and earned several multi-platinum certifications. Before pursuing his massive solo career, Sting rose to prominence in the ‘70s as frontman and primary songwriter for the new wave band, The Police. His time with the band has resulted in numerous hits, including “Every Breath You Take,” “Behind My Camel,” “Don’t Stand So Close To Me,” “Reggatta de Black,” and many more. The band has also earned several incredible accolades, including five Grammy Awards. In 2003, Sting and the band members of The Police were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 1983, the band released their best-selling album, Synchronicity. The eight-time platinum-selling effort was the band’s last official studio album before Sting launched his solo career. The album spawned several successful singles, including “Every Breath You Take,” “Synchronicity,” “Wrap Around Your Finger,” and “King of Pain.”

Two years after The Police released their last album, Sting launched his solo career. They released The Dream of the Blue Turtles in 1985, which became an immediate commercial success. The album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and later sold over two million copies, earning a double platinum certification. The album featured several hits, including “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” “Fortress Around Your Heart, and “Love is the Seventh Wave.”

After a successful debut, Sting released 14 more highly-acclaimed albums, seven of which earned multi-platinum or platinum status in the U.S. His solo career has also belted out 51 chart-performing singles that dominated the airwaves. Sting’s solo career has also earned him several
more accolades, including 12 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, an American Music Award, and a Golden Globe Award.
