Hailing from Charlotte in North Carolina, Anthony Hamilton started singing at just 10 years old in his church choir. During his teenage years, he took it up a notch and performed solo at a number of nightclubs and talent shows. In the early nineties, the musician moved to the Big Apple, where he signed with André Harrell's Uptown Records. This was a major move as the label was a huge source of the new jack swing sound and home to industry heavyweights like Jodeci and Mary J. Blige. At the turn of the millennium, Anthony Hamilton gained a massive commercial following with his breakthrough hit “Comin' from Where I'm From” (2003). It was so popular that it snagged a platinum certification and five Grammy nominations!!
From this concert, you can expect to hear relatable tracks from Anthony Hamilton’s own brand of R&B and rugged voice. His vocals and no-nonsense personality prompted comparisons to the likes of the legendary Bill Withers and Bobby Womack. It was via a collab with another soul legend, Al Green, that earned Anthony Hamilton his first Grammy win with the groovy duet "You've Got the Love I Need" (2008). The superstar moved away from rustic throwback soul in the 2010s and expanded his sound. This move brought him even more Grammy-nominated Top Ten R&B/hip-hop hits with "Back to Love" (2011) and "What I'm Feelin'" (2016). And if that wasn’t enough, Anthony Hamilton has topped off his epic career by establishing his very own label with 'Love Is the New Black' (2021)!!
