They're so close to the real thing, you'll find yourselves forgetting that it's 2025 and you're watching a tribute show. Not only do they look like Pink Floyd, they definitely act like Pink Floyd, and of course, sound exactly like the legendary band. Described as "The Gold Standard" by The Times Newspaper in London, their recreations of Pink Floyd's rockin' shows are hard to beat. Part of this year's special run is a stop at Cadence Bank Amphitheatre on Sunday, August 31. Don't miss out by booking your tickets now!
Are you a rockin' Pink Floyd fan? Well, the biggest and most spectacular tribute act actually hails from the land down under! It's no other than the Australian Pink Floyd Show, hailed as "The Gold Standard" among a sea of Pink Floyd tribute acts. Formed in 1988 in Adelaide, their live shows have replicated the very soul of the legendary band's world tours - recreating the look, feel, and sound. With a massive amount of visual aids, including lasers, inflatables, large display panels, and other creative production elements, it's as extravagant as it can get.
Selling over five million tickets across 35 countries, they've blessed the global stage with pitch-perfect performances of Pink Floyd's legendary catalog. With massive demand for their sonic flashback tours, they're keeping the original band's legacy alive. They're so good that even the one and only David Gilmour invited them to perform at his 50th birthday party. Among a sea of tribute acts, these fellas are true legends.
Over here, every single detail counts. Noted for their top-notch recreation of even the band's nuances, it's a surreal experience every time they pop out on stage. Steve Mac's guitar rig is extremely close to David Gilmour's exact set-up, and even had elements custom-made by Pete Cornish - whom Gilmour closely worked with.
"Pink Floyd fans are very sceptical and think twice about buying tickets," guitarist Damian Darlington, who toured with the band at the time, told The Telegraph back in 2009. "But once they come and see us, 90% of the time they're converted."
If you haven't had the chance to catch their shows back in the day, or weren't even born during their heyday, this is the perfect act to experience the legendary band's live-stage magic. "The music is doing the talking, not the people on the stage," singer Chris Barnes told Misplaced Straws in an interview, sharing how Floyd was really all about the music back in the 70s. From an underground background, the original band had little engagement with TV, photoshoots, interviews, and all of those press stuff. It's pure music that caught everyone's ears. "But really it is following that blueprint that Floyd kind of set down. When the Aussies got the band together, the original guys, still to this day we follow to the letter their kind of ethos of we’re going to play it like this it’s going to be like the album."
Sharing how it's an honor to play these music, they serve justice to the original recordings, performing it exactly how Pink Floyd would at their world tours. "Our show is a replication of what you would expect to see if you went to see Pink Floyd," pointing out the circle screen, lasers, inflatables, and elements that made the band's show memorable for those who had the privilege to see them back then.
This year, it's all about 50 years of "Wish You Were Here". A record that packs some of the band's most legendary songs - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Welcome to the Machine," "Have a Cigar", and the beloved title track, it's a series of shows that'll definitely strike the soul. Music that shaped rock history, it's all set to hit hard. Making it to Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums, it's an essential record for those looking back at Pink Floyd's catalog.
