Cult icons and funky stars Primus are hitting up stages across North America! As part of their new tour “Onward & Upward”, Primus will stop by Synovus Bank Amphitheater in Atlanta on July 25th.
Primus have firmly placed themselves outside the norm box, with music that gives harmony to bass and drums, explores the definition of music and every rock and punk subgenre under the sun, and is not afraid to break every rule ever written. Primus have released some of the most memorable hits such as “My Name is Mud”, "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver" and "Tommy the Cat", and have featured in various pop cult classics such as South Park and Bill & Ted to name a couple.
Joining the Claifornian legends is the American experimental musician MonoNeon. This is the exact type of music and artist that Les Claywood highly appreciates.
So come on down to [venue] where you’ll find yourself lost in the brilliance of Primus and MonoNeon.
California’s funk-punks Primus are back on the roads with their new headlining tour “Onward & Upward”. As part of the schedule, the band will be playing at the Synovus Bank Amphitheater in Atlanta on July 25th.
As for the special guest of the night, Primus has appropriately invited American musician MonoNeon to warm up the stage.
Primus is an American rock band from California. The band was founded in 1984 by bassist and vocalist Les Claypool, and included original members guitarist Todd Huth, and drummer Jay Lane. Both Huth and Lane left the band in 1989 and were replaced with guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde, and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander. The trio became the “classic” Primus lineup for many years.
Primus have released nine studio albums to date, each carrying significant stages for the band. The most notable albums are “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” and “Pork Soda”. Primus’ third studio album “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” was the major breakthrough for the band with hits "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver" and "Tommy the Cat" both breaking into MTV’s airtime. However, it was the band’s 1993 dark and humorous album “Pork Soda” that broke the barriers even further with hit single "My Name Is Mud" leading the album to receive a Platinum certificate. Even with long waits between each album release, Primus have actively been touring festivals, collaborating and making music behind the curtains.
Primus has played a major part in shaping some of pop culture’s established TV shows, Movies and even Video Games with their music contributions. Most popular and famous featured tracks were in The Beavis and Butt-head Experience, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and the original intro theme song for the long-running animated sitcom South Park. Primus not only breathes everything that is considered underground, but also thrives on scenes where art, music and creativity collide most authentically.
MonoNeon is an American songwriter, singer, bassist and experimental musician. He was noticed by the late music legend Prince, and was on board on several projects by him. In late 2015, Prince invited Mono to join his latest band, with Kirk Johnson, Donna Grantis and Adrian Crutchfield, and performed many shows together before his passing. Mono’s involvement with Prince and other artists such as Ne-Yo, and Georgia Anne Muldrow, gained him a cult following. Mono pushes the limits of instruments by combining modern slapping techniques and traditional melodies.
