Award-winning group Jodeci were the golden boys of ‘90s R&B. Members DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and Jojo delivered several amazing hits, including the number 1 Hot R&B/Hip-hop song, “Forever My Lady,” “Stay,” “Come & Talk to Me,” and “Cry For You.” After signing with Uptown Records in the early ‘90s, they immediately made waves in the music scene with their debut effort, Forever My Lady. The critically-acclaimed album peaked at number 18 on the Billboard 200 and topped the R&B chart. The album was later certified triple platinum after selling over three million copies in the U.S.

By 1993, the group had benchmarked their reputation as the rising star of R&B. Their sophomore album, Diary of a Mad Band, soared to number 3 on the Billboard 200 and continued to top the R&B chart. The group also made their first international breakthrough after the album entered the charts in four other countries. Thanks to hits like “Cry for You,” “Feenin,” and “What About Us,” the album sold over two million copies in the U.S.

In 1995, Jodeci dropped their third effort, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel. The platinum-certified record spawned several hits, including “Freek’n You,” “Love U 4 Life,” and “Get On Up.”

Phenomenal girl group, SWV, dominated the airwaves during the ‘90s with their hits “Weak,” “Right Here,” “I’m So Into You,” and “You’re the One.” The trio, composed of Cheryl Gamble, Tamara George, and Leanne Lyons, sold over 25 million albums worldwide and is recorded to be among the best-selling girl groups during the ‘90s.

Aside from earning platinum certifications, SWV also received numerous accolades, including Grammy nominations for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “If Only You Knew.”

In 2017, they won a Soul Train Lady of Soul Award, a separate award show from Soul Train to honor women who made an impact on music and the arts.
