Originating from Georgia, Jaten Dimsdale, otherwise known by the moniker Teddy Swims, is the grandson of a pastor. He started out in American football and musical theater. His varied background meant that the “Lose Control” sensation was as used to singing his heart out to country and rock as he was to letting loose with soul and funk, paving the way for a signature sound that can’t be boxed into one genre.
Teddy Swims began sharing his songs on the internet in 2019, where he blew up and went viral. Not long after, he inked a deal with Warner Records and started penning his own original tracks in 2020. Just one year later, the pioneer wrote more than 300 songs, clinching the Rolling Stone’s Artist to Watch award. 2023 was a huge year for Teddy Swims. He released his debut album, I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1), which was such a hit with listeners that it has been named one of the most listened-to albums in the UK. The mixtape saw the star explore some personal, real issues through his raw music. “Now I’m watching people connect with the messages and stories and realizing not only are the songs helping me, but they’re also helping them too,” he says. “It feels like all that work on the back end, all that internalizing, is finally making a difference.” Teddy Swims continues, "My debut album is an honest look into my mental health journey. This album is my first step towards being vulnerable about this journey and the steps I need to take to heal." And now, Teddy Swims is turning up the heat with part 2 of the series, inviting fans to be part of his incredible journey of self-healing!
The hitmaker is embarking on a highly anticipated North American trek in celebration of his sophomore album, ‘I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)’.
